Nyana Abreu Miller, a Partner at Sequor Law, focuses her practice on cross-border insolvency, marital asset recovery and financial fraud. Nyana has worked on cases brought under Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on behalf of foreign office holders of bankrupt Latin American companies and financial institutions where insiders concealed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of assets into or through the United States.
Nyana has represented individuals, corporations, receivers and trustees in applications for assistance in obtaining evidence under 28 U.S.C § 1782, for use in litigation pending abroad.
Nyana has domesticated and enforced foreign judgments under Florida’s Uniform Out-of-country Foreign Money-Judgment Recognition Act.
Nyana has led e-discovery teams, both as counsel to the requesting party and the receiving party, and has utilized U.S. discovery to obtain valuable intelligence for her clients, including documents falling under the crime-fraud exception to the attorney client privilege.
Nyana has represented a company in international commercial arbitration.
Prior to joining Sequor Law, Nyana worked on commercial, financial and real estate transactions at an international law firm. In that position, she represented bank syndicates in financial transactions for various purposes, including working capital, international trade and acquisitions.
